[WATCH] Man crossing river by standing on bamboo pole

Chinese internet users have found their new idol: a man who can cross a river using just two bamboo poles.

Fang Shuyun, 51, has trained himself to travel across water by standing on a bamboo pole while rowing with another, according to People's Daily Online.

Pictures and video of the man's unique commuting skill have caused a stir among the Chinese public, who are baffled at how he manages to do the skill.

Middle-aged Fang lives in Jiande, a part of east China's Hangzhou city.

Video footage from China Central Television Station show the man sailing smoothly across a river with two bamboo canes, which measured around 23 feet long (seven metres).

Fang, who is 5ft 6in tall (170 cm) and weighs 8.6 stone (55kg), is seen standing on one while using the other as the paddle.

He was reportedly travelling at a speed of 100 to 164 feet (30 to 50 metres) per minute.
