Construction of Metro rail and station starts today
Country’s most desirable work the construction of the first metro rail and station, is going to start from today,wednesday. Road Transport and Traffic Minister Obaidul Quader will inaugurate the project called Month Rapid Transit (MRT) at Agargaon Point today.
According to the project report, the CP-03 package under MRT-6 project is for construction of Metro Rail and elevated stations from Uttara-North to Pallabi and CP-04 for construction of Metro Rail and elevated stations from Pallabi to Agargaon.
MRT line-6 is the elevated metro rail system. A metro rail will stop at 16 stations from Uttara to Mirpur and Motijheel in the capital. A speeding metro rail will stop at a station every four minutes and transport 60 thousand passengers per hour.
On May 4, three contract deals were signed with the Italian-Thai Development Company and the Sinohaidro Corporation. Through this, it is expected that easy and convenient passenger transport as well as comfortable service can be ensured and free of traffic in Dhaka.
