Human emotion through ink

In the cycle of life, a man goes through a number of quests. Everyone seeks relief, whether one is happy or unhappy. Even on the verge of death or a hospital bed, one seeks a few extra seconds of life.

Art is the medium of expressing thoughts, and each artist have their own unique way of expressing themselves; writers through their writing, painters through their painting, and photographers through their photos. Up and coming artist Syed Nazmus Sakib has tried to manifest his thoughts and observations through pen and ink. He tried to explore human emotions, people and nature in his solo exhibition underway at the EMK Center in the capital's Dhanmondi area.

Titled 'Looking for heaven', this is the first solo exhibition of Sakib's that began on August 5, featuring 23 pen and ink drawings by the artist. Through his work, he tries to bring out many aspects of human emotions like hope, excitement, innovation and survival.

He sees the urge to live in the old man's eyes, he sees how nature and men coincide and collide at the same time, he sees the beauty in not just remote places but also in his surrounding, in his own city Dhaka and he tries to capture them and keep them alive through the strokes of his pen.

Nazmus Sakib wants to capture this fight for existence, possibilities and beauty in his own unique way. Time may change the world we are living in today but these paintings to become the token of stories from the past, he wants to stop time in his living paintings drawn by pen and ink.
