Boga Lake, also known as Bagakain Lake, is the most beautiful natural lake in Bangladesh. It is 18 km away from Ruma Sadar Upazila in Bandarban. The area of this lake is about 15 acres. It is approximately 1800 feet above sea level. The color of its water is blue. Behind the creation of this lake there are many mythological stories. Many tourists visit Boga lake mostly during winter.
Localities of small tribe community like Bawm, Khumi can be found beside the Boga Lake. Strolling becomes difficult in the rainy season. It is a naturally sweet and deep water lake. Its height from sea level is nearly 1,246 feet (380 m). Geologists believe that it was created by the collection of rain water in the crater of a dead volcano almost 2000 years ago. The lake is rectangular in shape.
A local legend tells that the lake was created after the inhabitants of a Khumi village killed and ate a deity who later reappeared to them in the form of a dragon. Instantly an earthquake occurred, the hillside caved in, and the village disappeared and formed a deep lake. The water color of the lake varies at different times at a day depending upon the sun light, humidity and clouds.
