Oak, national tree of the United States of America

There are approximately 600 species of Oak tree in the world. A single tree in spring produces both male and female flowers. That is the genetic side of the tree. We would like to describe visible and utility features of it in this small write-up.

Oak is National Tree of the United States of America. More than 60 species of Oak grow in the country which makes it the most widespread hardwood tree. In 2004 the Oak stood as the National Tree of the country. Twenty-one candidate trees were proposed by 50 states for the selection and Oak got more than one lakh votes to pass and Redwood Tree got 80K plus votes for securing second position.

The tree was chosen for its beauty and wood quality and its role in providing shade was also considered at voting time. A Senator mentioned it telling that, "It represents our nation's strength". The total process predicts the importance of nature in human lifestyle.

Oak wood, for its fine and strong quality, is commonly used in furniture, floor making and establishing timber-frame buildings. One kind of Oak is being used as wine corks and bouquets. Oak wood chips are used for smoking various foods as like as meat, fish and other foods.

In winter, Oak tree loses all its leaves and a nature-lover will ask: "Will it survive or going to die." But the tree is strong enough to fight any degree of cold weather and present a very nice and astonishingly enjoyable scene in spring season.

Beauty and strength, both it contains. Oak wood is also used for very strong fencing. In making protection barriers in roadsides and highways, huge Oak bars are used with metal ones. Wood has the potential to absorb forced dashing which helps minimize the harm of any road accident.

From fancy use and large size placement utility-- in both cases-- Oak has a positive role and use in the USA. To keep humans and other lives from too much cold or extreme heat, Oak has to play a life-saving role. Buildings are made habitable by using woods, especially Oak, at the time of construction.

Oakwood is also being used by artists. History says: A painting of Casper David Friedrich, done in Oakwood and titled 'The Abbey', was shown in an exhibition of 1810 which was created in between 1809 and 1810. America, always ready to contain any extreme weather, knows the importance of tree and each tree draws special attention here. Persons and administration, all are caring to trees including the Oak.
