Parliament heated over Rumeen Farhana's speech

A heated argument took place in Parliament on Tuesday following a speech by Member of Parliament Rumeen Farhana from Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Rumeen Farhana said, "Today is my first day in the Parliament. All politicians dream to come into the parliament to talk about the betterment of the country's people. However, it is my bad luck that I belong to such a parliament which is not elected by the country's voters."

Parliamentarians belonging to the ruling party Awami League instantly started protesting over the speech of Rumeen Farhana. Awami League parliamentarians declined the speech of Rumeen Farhana with heated words.

It may be added that BNP participated in the eleventh parliamentary election which was held on 30 December 2018 but later on BNP leaders rejected the results of the polls.

Awami League won the election securing victory in 267 constituencies including the parties belonging to the Grand Alliance. On the other hand, BNP won in only 7 constituencies including its associates from Jatiya Oikya Front.
