Alauddin Al-Azad

Alauddin Al-Azad  was a modern Bangladeshi author, novelist, and poet. Azad was born in Dhaka. He Passed Secondary School Certificate and Higher Secondary School Certificate in 1947 and 1949 respectively. From Dhaka University he earned his BA (Honors) and MA in 1953 and 1954. He received his PhD from London University in 1970 for his work Iswar Gupter Jeebon o Kabita. Also he was a first secretary of Bangladesh High Commission in Moscow. He died on July 3, 2009 in Uttara Thana. During his student life, Alauddin Al Azad worked in newspapers on a part-time basis. After finishing his education, he taught at Tolaram College of Narayanganj (1955), Dhaka Jagannath College (1956-61), Sylhet MC College (1962-68), and Chittagong Government College (1964-67). He served as the principal of Dhaka College for one year (1974-75).
