Prime Bank MD faces graft allegations


Allegations of corruption, irregularities, nepotism and financial malpractices have come up against Rahel Ahmed, Managing Director of Prime Bank Limited. Kazi Azharul Islam, Vice President of Prime Bank Limited has brought these allegations and has also filed a case with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Dhaka.

Moreover, a general diary (GD) has been lodged with Ramna Model Police Station under Dhaka Metropolitan Police in this connection. Rahel Ahmed is reportedly associated with the anti-liberation platforms. He has allegedly committed severe graft and anomalies in recruitment and promotions in Prime Bank Limited.

Kazi Azharul Islam has further complained that he is being intimidated and receiving threats after filing the case against Rahel Ahmed. Allegations about Rahel Ahmed have been submitted to Bangladesh Bank as well. However, Kazi Azharul Islam has informed that Bangladesh Bank has not yet taken any remarkable step regarding this issue.

Rahel Ahmed has allegedly misused the name of the government higher-ups including the Prime Minister for doing corruption. According to the statement of Kazi Azharul Islam, Rahel Ahmed has threatened to dismiss him and has added false and detrimental points in Kazi Azharul Islam's annual confidential report (ACR) to put him in professional hazards.

Under these circumstances, Kazi Azharul Islam has sought cooperation from the  authorities concerned to take necessary measures against Rahel Ahmed and to establish good governance and accountability in Prime Bank Limited.
