Role of NGO in nation building

Non-governmental organizations in South Asia play a vital part in nation building operations. There is some logic behind it in this regard. In most South Asian countries we find corruption is broadly eating up the vitals of our societal setup. My elite online readers of South Asia are well aware of that the governments of these countries are purely responsible for this enmesh.

This clearly indicates that people around us are fully corruptible in nature thereby the development process is in utter doldrums. That is why we find that roles of different non-governmental organizations are attaining paramount importance in various South Asian nations.

Though South Asian nations are dependent upon various NGO, the role of government is not at all ruled out. As I write this column from the Indian city of Kolkata and also contributing for a well-known English language daily of Bangladesh, I felt it is my humble task to focus upon two leading Saarc nations -- India and Bangladesh.

Like in India the roles of non-governmental organizations in Bangladesh are also equally important. In both the countries, NGOs play pivotal roles in shaping the development of the country. In both the nations, we find that governments are also working along with NGOs comfortably.

Though sometimes friction takes place between governmental agencies and NGOs of the country but that is also sorted out at the earliest. Hence subsequently it is my subsequent task to analyze deeply how the NGOs help in the building up of nations like India and Bangladesh.

Non-governmental organizations help in the development of both India and Bangladesh from their macro perspectives. NGOs in both the above stated nations play multifarious tasks in the economic, social and cultural development of both nations. Now let me discuss the roles of NGOs separately for both nations from the above stated features.

India has a population of around 136 crore. Overall there are 29 states and 9 union territories. But as corruption of all kinds has mounted so heavily, it is important on the part of the citizens to entrust responsibilities in nation building. That is why from Indian perspectives we find that the roles of all NGOs stand as paramount importance.

This is because the way corruption levels purge up throughout the country, the development process sometimes get badly thwarted out immediately. So in the process NGOs take charge of the country's development thereby paving the way for unlimited success. The way NGOs help in the development of the country needs no evaluation in it.

They lend their generosity in areas like food, shelter, clothing, drinking water and along with it education for all which every Indians are well aware of the scenarios. Also in India we find that NGOs are deeply involved in the tasks of opening various village level schools (which locally is well-known as Pathsalas).

In today's scenario, especially in India and Bangladesh it is noted the role of all NGOs in both India and Bangladesh is gaining paramount importance. The reason behind it is none other than an erosion of social and moral values. On account of this reason we find that corruption is badly eating up the basic fabric of our social and cultural setup. Hence, the necessity of having NGOs is gaining paramount importance in today's scenario and also in the upcoming days.
