I don't need to prove my honesty: Menon

Workers Party's President Rashed Khan Menon said on Saturday that he does not have to prove his honesty. He made this remark during the inaugural program of the tenth congress of Workers Party which was held on Saturday in the capital's Engineers Institution.

Rashed Khan Menon came up with this comment at such a time when there are allegations that he extorted money from casinos. Rashed Khan Menon has denied this allegation.

Rashed Khan Menon generated heated discussions and criticism a few days ago saying that the eleventh parliamentary election held on 30 December 2018 was not free and fair. Awami League leaders condemned Rashed Khan Menon's statement.

Rashed Khan Menon said, "I have been honest throughout my life. I do not need to prove my honesty." Rashed Khan Menon's father Justice Abdul Jabbar Khan was Speaker of Pakistan National Council.

Rashed Khan Menon was a student leader and was also Vice President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU).

Rashed Khan Menon was also President of Chhatra Union during his academic life. He has been a pro-Chinese communist leader for a long time.

Rashed Khan Menon hailed the ongoing anti-corruption drive saying that corruption and development cannot go ahead hand in hand. He also laid emphasis on the establishment of freedom of speech. Moreover, he called upon the government to take tough measures against loan scammers.
