Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman thought about the country's farmers all the time. He talked about the wellbeing of farmers in the Pakistan Parliament during 1950s. He also raised his voice during 1960s for the betterment of farmers.
Bangabandhu categorically talked about the welfare of farmers in a speech he gave on 28 October 1970. He laid emphasis on the use of scientific activities for the development of agriculture. He told in Parliament in January 1975 that the farmers and workers of Bangladesh do not commit any kind of corruption.
Bangabandhu had far-sighted visions regarding the modernization of agriculture. He introduced Bangabandhu Award for the expansion of agriculture and for encouraging farmers. Bangabandhu established Bangladesh Agricultural Research Council (BARC) in 1973. Bangabandhu had profound love for the farmers of Bangladesh throughout his life.
