Metro Rail: The Bengali Dream

Whose heart is full of love for the country, he has no way to stay at home. No matter what condition he is in, he will get out on the way. In the same way, a patriot comes out of the house in the good days of the country, the path of development of the country, the realization of a long cherished dream to see the real form of the dream with his own eyes. Such a picture has emerged during the experimental operation of Metrorail.

It's a train we've never seen before. It has a distinct attraction and appeal. The train will go over the flyover, it is a completely new scene for us. I have seen people walking on the flyover, buses or other vehicles, this time I will also see the train running.

How much love a citizen of a country has for his country can be understood by looking at 60-year-old Siddiqur Rahman. Although he is old, he has risen in a multi-storied building to welcome a development of the country, a dream journey or to see the dream Metrorail run in reality. He is waiting to see the dream with his own eyes.

This outburst of the people proves how much they love the country. They are patriots. The image of the people of the country rejoicing at the delay in the arrival of the train and the image of them rushing from afar to see the dream Metrorail, which turned into a festival. These are the things that keep people alive for ages.

The way in which all means of communication, including vehicles, have progressed through technology in the developed world is truly admirable. Bangladesh does not stop at this time of information technology. Bangladesh is moving forward with efficient leadership in the implementation of various programs one after another. One dream after another is taking shape. Which will remain unforgettable in the pages of history.

The project was approved by the government on December 16, 2012 with the slogan 'Save time, save oil, reduce traffic jams and Metrorail' on the special initiative of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The term was then from July 2012 to June 2024. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the construction work on June 26, 2016.

The Japanese Development Cooperation Agency (JICA) is providing financial assistance of Tk 16,594 crore for this project worth Tk 21,985.59 crore. The government is The capital Dhaka is about to enter a new era of urban transport by realizing the dream of Metrorail. His rehearsal went on last Sunday. The official 'trial ban' or experimental operation of Metrorail has started. Metrorail is no longer a dream. Absolutely on the verge of reality. Metrorail viaduct of 6 bogies travels from Metrorail depot at Diabari in Uttara to Pallabi at a speed of 25 km per hour and then back to the depot. However, there were no passengers on this train.

Exactly 18 months from now, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the Metro Rail in December 2022. If you open it then you will be able to move with the passengers.The start of the experimental operation of the Metrorail is a milestone event. Metrorail is no longer a dream, it is a visible reality. Not limited to metrorails only. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate 3 mega projects next year. However, by 2030, 6 metrorails will start running.

According to the report, the progress from Diabari to Agargaon is 8 percent. As of July 31 this year, the overall progress of the project has been 70 percent. On the other hand, the progress of work from Uttara to Agargaon has been 7 percent. According to the latest progress report of the project, erection work of 18.56 km viaduct has already been completed out of 20.10 km viaduct. At the same time the work of electrical wiring is in the final stage. The construction of infrastructure of 9 stations of the first part is almost completed.

The construction of sheds of the first 5 stations has been completed. Accelerator ladders have been installed at 3 stations, but have not been commissioned yet. Construction of other stations is progressing fast. The overall work progress of these 9 stations is about 90 percent. When the train starts running, it will first run from Uttara to Pallabi. Later it will be extended to Agargaon. According to DMTCL sources, the formality of running the train on the viaduct has started.

This movement will continue till the day before the inauguration. Now it is being investigated whether there is any problem in the viaduct, whether the electricity is working properly, whether there is any mechanical, technical, electrical problem somewhere. Metrorail will run on 100% electricity. A total of 19 issues including signal and communication will work together in the field of railways.

Between June and December 2022, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate 3 mega projects. The Padma Bridge will be inaugurated in June. Later, the Bangabandhu Tunnel under the Karnafuli River in Chittagong and the Metro Rail will be opened to the public in December. The term of the Metrorail project is till June 2024. However, the government is in talks to complete the entire Metrorail project as soon as possible.

Metrorail is likely to be fully operational in June 2023 if the pace of work increases, officials said.Not only Metrorail, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has already taken a bold step in the meantime. The water will touch and fly in the sky. He has inaugurated the construction of a runway over the sea for the first time in the country to make such an incredible thing a reality.
