Grim graft allegations against Zakir Ahmed Khan
Former bureaucrat Zakir Ahmed Khan is facing grim allegations of corruption and irregularities. He has been holding high posts in various organizations for years after years. Reportedly Zakir Ahmed Khan's appointment in some organizations violates the regulations of Bangladesh Bank. Zakir Ahmed Khan was a Secretary during the reign of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP). He became an adviser to Southeast Bank Limited in 2010. He has been holding this post for over 11 years. Moreover, Zakir Ahmed Khan is a member of Southeast Bank Green Foundation, director of Southeast Bank Green School, all in all in Southeast Bank Capital Services, independent director of Bay Leasing and Investment Limited, director of BLI Capital Limited, independent director of National Life Insurance, independent director of Marico Bangladesh Limited, independent director of Crown Cement and member of Policy Research Institute.

Allegedly Zakir Ahmed Khan abuses power and thus he is involved in massive financial scams. He is taking salaries from all the above organizations.

Zakir Ahmed Khan became Chairman of National Board of Revenue (NBR) in the year 2000. Later on when BNP came to power in 2001, Zakir Ahmed Khan was made Finance Secretary. He held this post from 2001 to 2005. During this period he became filthy rich.

Allegations show that Zakir Ahmed Khan has amassed an immense sum of money through shady deals over last several years.

Bangladesh Bank's Deputy Governor Abu Farah Md. Naser told media that the central bank has received certain allegations of graft and anomalies against Zakir Ahmed Khan. Necessary actions would be taken through proper inquiries, the Deputy Governor further said.
