Legal action against those who showed off Pakistan flag

Says Liberation War Affairs Minister

Legal action against those who showed off Pakistan flag

Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque has said that supporting Pakistan cricket team by Bangladeshi youths against Bangladesh cannot be justified. Legal action will be taken against the people who showed off Pakistan flag in the gallery while Bangladesh-Pakistan T20 match was going on, AKM Mozammel Haque further said. AKM Mozammel Haque made these remarks while speaking to journalists in the Secretariat on Sunday after attending a program. The jersey of Shadhin Bangla Football Team was handed over to the Liberation War Museum authority at the program.

AKM Mozammel Haque said that supporting Pakistan against Bangladesh is very unfortunate. It is a breach of patriotism, he stated. Home Minister Asaduzz-aman Khan Kamal, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russell, Cabinet Secretary Khandaker Anwarul Islam, Youth and Sports Senior Secretary Akhter Hossain and Shadhin Bangla Football Team players were present at that time.

It may be added that some youths cheered up for Pakistan cricket team during the ongoing T20 cricket tournament between Pakistan and Bangladesh. These youths expressed joy when Bangladeshi batsmen were dismissed and when Pakistani batsmen hit sixes or fours. It was difficult to figure out that the match was going on in Dhaka.

A report titled "Supporting Pak cricket team against BD: Institutional failure, lack of historic knowledge blamed" appeared in The Asian Age on 21 November 2021. In that report The Asian Age referred to the history of Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan through the Liberation War of 1971 and focused on the atrocities committed by Pakistan Army and their local collaborators during the war.
