Finance Minister Abul Mal Abdul Muhit was seen with Lt Col (Retd) Aziz Pasha, one of the fugitive killers of Bangabondhu at an unknown place. The photo in social media was posted on 20 August, 2015 by a man named Nur Hossain. It is noted in his FB post "This is the live probe that the current Finance Minister had a close relationship with the Killer Aziz Pasha, who along with others killed Bangabandhu and his Family members."
We have no idea about how and from where the man collected the picture, or whether the man in the photo is really our Finance minister. Out of the 12 convicted in the Bangabandhu murder case, five were sent to the gallows in 2010, while Lt Col Aziz Pasha, died in Zimbabwe in 2002. The six absconders are Lt Col (dismissed) Khandaker Abdur Rashid, Lt Col (relieved) Shariful Haque Dalim, Lt Col (retd) Noor Chowdhury, Lt Col (retd) A M Rashed Chowdhury, Capt Abdul Mazed and Risalder Moslehuddin.
The Bangladesh government did not have the exact locations of at least four fugitives, though they are believed to be holed up in Libya and Pakistan. The locations of Lt Col (retd) A M Rashed Chowdhury and Lt Col (retd) Noor Chowdhury, were more or less confirmed. While Rashed was in the US, Noor was in Germany and both had sought political asylum in Canada. The government has introduced a new law to curb cybercrime in the country. If the man is incorrect in posting the picture, he should be brought under surveillance. When contacted, veteran layer Dr. Shadhin Malik said, there is no way to be sure in case a photo is uploaded in FB. However, if Finance Minister had been pictured before the court verdict, no one should embarrass him now, he said.
The prominent economist Abul Barkat said, "I am not familiar with the countenance of Lt. Col Aziz Pasha. But I'm sure that it is Finance Minister in the Picture. If it is Pasha, then the question is simple, 'what Mr Muhit was doing with him?' "Mr. Muhit wrote in his book that in 1971, he had been working as a registered lobbyist in USA. Now a question can be asked, who Mr Muhit is actually?" He added.
