Correcting NID with different birth certificate can no longer be done

Correcting NID with different birth certificate can no longer be done

Taking a different birth certificate to make corrections with national identification card (NID) can no longer be done. Birth and Death Registrar General's office has requested Election Commission not to take such things into cognizance. The Registrar General Office has put

forward three recommendations to Election Commission.

1)      If a person has two birth certificates online, he has to void one of the birth certificates. NID cannot be issued to a person with two birth certificates online.

2)      If a person has two birth certificates (one online, another manual), in that case corrections to NID can be made on the basis of the birth certificate available online.

3)      If a person has two online birth certificates, the one with an earlier date will be accepted.

Officials concerned have informed that SSC or equivalent certificates and birth certificates are taken into consideration to get NID cards corrected. From now on no one will be able to do any kind of forgery in making NID cards with birth certificates.
