Salman Shah, one of the greatest actors ever in Bangladesh had revolutionized Bangladeshi Cinemas during the nineties. For his extraordinary good looks, style and acting, he had become an icon above from all other in the Bangladeshi film industry. Being mostly popular by the name Salman Shah, his real name is Shahriar Chowdhury Emon. He was born on19 September 1971 in Sylhet, Bangladesh. He started his career with the first episode of the television drama Pathor Shomoy.
 He also appeared as a model in television advertisements. Although his acting career lasted only four years, he had reached the level of popularity which others thrive for decades. Shah got his break-through in the film Keyamot Theke Keyamot in 1993. It was directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. The film was a remake of an Indian film named Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, released in 1988. Even though he had started his acting career in television drama, he conquered the big screen very soon. He acted in a total of 27 films. His film career was associated with first Moushumi and then Shabnur.
Before acting, Salman Shah worked in several Bangla Natok (Bengali Dramas) and TV commercials.At the end of 1980, Hanif Sanket, famous for his TV presentation made Salman Shah act in a music video for his magazine program 'Kothar Kotha' as a model. That music video received popularity among the people. After a quite long interval, Salman had began acting on a regular basis and won the hearts of the people again. 
The number of total films acted by Salman Shah is 27 among which, 14 films was with Shabnur. Salman Shah and Shabnur is the most successful pair in the history of Bengali film. He also acted with actress Moushumi. The last movie by Salman Shah was 'Booker Vitor Agun'. As mentioned before, Salman had worked in many advertisements and Bengali Dramas. His notable single episode TV dramas are Akash chuya, Doyel, Sob paki Ghore fire, Soikote Saros, Noyon, Swapner Prithibi and many more. He also acted in TV serials. Pathor somoy and Itikotha are most popular ones. He worked in Milk vita, Gold star tea, Jagurar Cades, Coca cola, Funta and many other TV commercials.
After entering the film industry, he married Samira Huq. But suddenly he committed suicide on 6 September, 1996 only at the age of 25. Whether it was a suicide or a murder is a still a secret. Someone also accused to his wife Samira Huq directly. The suspicion rose higher when Salman shah's wife Samira Huq had married another person after his death. It is said that this case had been opened again and investigating is going on again. With Salman Shah death, Bangladesh lost an asset that can never be retrieved. The Bangladeshi film industry had lost one of the most precious jewel that it ever had which can never be replaced.
