A total of 21 individuals will get the country's second highest civilian award, the Ekushey Padak, this year in recognition of their contributions to various fields.
The Cultural Affairs Ministry announced the names in a circular signed by Deputy Secretary Irin Farzana on Tuesday (February 14). The eminent citizens who have been selected for Ekushey Padak are Ashrafuddin Ahmad, Hatem Ali Miah, Jalal Uddin Khan (posthumous), Kalyani Ghose, Bidit Lal Das (posthumous), Andrew Kishore (posthumous), Shuvro Deb, Dolly Jahur, MA Alamgir, Shimul Mutafa, Rupa Chakraborty, Shibli Muhammad, Shahjahan Ahmed Bikash Kawsar Chowdhury, Md. Ziaul Haque, Alhajj Rafique Ahmad, Dr. Jinobodhi Vikkhu, Muhammad Samad, Lutfor Rahman Riton, Minar Mansur and Rudra Muhammad Shahidullah (posthumous).
Each recipient of the Ekushey Padak will receive 4 lakh taka, a gold medal and an honorific memento.
