Govt patronises market syndicates: Ganatantra Mancha

Leaders of Ganatantra Mancha on Saturday at a press conference in Dhaka alleged that the Awami League government had failed to control price hikes of essential commodities as they were patronised the syndicates.

Ganatantra Mancha, a combine of six political parties in Bangladesh, organised the conference at central office of Rastra Sanskar Andolan, where Ganosamhati Andolan chief coordinator and also coordinator of the combine Zonayed Saki said that the government would not be able to reduce price hikes of the essentials as they were patronising the syndicates.

Revolutionary Workers Party general secretary Saiful Huq said that so far government did not take any effective step to control price hikes of the essentials. He called on the government to take immediate steps to control the syndicates and hoarders, responsible for the abnormal price hikes of the essentials.

Bhashani Onusari Parishad convener Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu said that some companies and businessmen, who were getting blessings of the government, were behind the price hikes of the essentials. Rastra Sanskar Andolan chief coordinator Hasnat Quaiyum called on the people to build resistance against the syndicates. Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal-JSD general secretary Shahid Uddin Mahmod Shapon called on the government to introduce

countrywide mass rationing system so that people could buy essential commodities at cheaper prices.
Meanwhile, Zonayed Saki announced two hour sit-in programme on Monday from 11:00am to 1:00pm in front of the National Press Club, protesting against price hikes of the essentials.
