Polls in two Dhaka city corporations likely to be held in January-February

 
The elections of Dhaka north and south city corporations are likely to be held in January or February of 2025, according to relevant sources. The Election Commission (EC) has informed that they may send letters to the Local Government and Rural Development Ministry in July 2024. Preparations for the capital's two city corporation elections are already underway, EC officials have told reporters.

It may be recalled that the two mayors of Dhaka north and south city corporations took oaths on 27 February 2020. Atiqul Islam took charge of the Mayor post of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on 13 May 2020 while Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh sat on the mayoral chair of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) on 16 May 2020. Atiqul Islam stated 38 pledges in his election manifesto while Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh made 50 promises in his election manifesto.

There are 54 lakh 63 thousand 467 voters in Dhaka north and south city corporations.
