Rahman Zahid a significant writer, lawyer, and social activist from Bangladesh, is based in London. His notable efforts in advocating against climate change, systemic and societal discrimination, and the erosion of civil liberties have earned him widespread recognition.
His analytical writings on social issues, featured in leading publications and shared on his social media, significantly contribute to raising awareness and fostering a sense of empowerment among the current youth regarding their rights and responsibilities.
Rahman Zahid has been using social media platforms to highlight serious issues of human rights violations. Most recently during the tragic genocide that took place in anti-discrimination student protests in Bangladesh, where he highlighted the patterns of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings raised under Sheikh Hasina's regime.
Like many prominent intellectuals, Rahman Zahid also stood strongly in writing when dictator Hasina falsely accused all ordinary students as terrorist. “Hasina planned and organised a fraudulent event on August 21st, 2004 to accuse the BNP and Jamat as terrorists to the world. Hasina's lower-class political strategy includes a secular outlook and a position as a victim of terrorism to get sympathy.” he added.
During the demonstrations in Bangladesh after a bus accident on July 29th, 2018, Rahman Zahid emerged as a social activist, advocating for safer roads through his impactful writing while still a student. His passion for writing began in childhood, where he wrote for children's magazines, laying the foundation for his future activism.
Rahman Zahid has been nominated for the Asia Pacific Diplomacy Forum & Award 2024 by one of the foremost youth organisations in the world. This nomination was formally announced on July 19th by Diwakar Aryal, the President of the Global Youth Parliament, in a signed letter.
