Newspapers and television channels had frequently run reports on illegal money transfer from Bangladesh to foreign countries. Even names and particulars of some branded financial transgressors were disclosed by media outlets but no action against these crooks was taken. However, Coast Guard deserves salutes for catching hold of two big daddies belonging to the ousted government—former Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq and the overthrown Prime Minister’s Private Industries and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman.
Netizens have flooded social media with adulations for Coast Guard for detaining Anisul Huq and Salman F Rahman on Tuesday (13 August 2024). After detaining these two infamous perpetrators, Coast Guard handed them over to police force. It may be added that Rear Admiral Mir Ershad Ali is at present Director General of Bangladesh Coast Guard.
Anisul Huq and Salman F Rahman abused their power in every possible way with explicit support from the ex Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). Anisul Huq, by means of his ministerial authority, enabled some monsters belonging to Awami League to violate human rights and repress ordinary citizens through extortion. Doing business in Bangladesh became too tough a job because of the torment of the PMO-backed extortionists from 2009 to 2024.

Even the failure of banks to recover defaulted loans from influential borrowers is a threatening scenario for the country’s economic foothold, Dr. Wahid Uddin Mahmud further said.
Dr. Zahid Hussain, World Bank’s former lead economist said that the interim government’s philanthropic and beneficial goals will run into dire hurdles if corruption in banks and financial institutions cannot be eliminated.
Now it is time to rebuild a new and totally different, magnificent and a garden-like Bangladesh where people from all walks of life will be able to enjoy their legitimate rights, socio-economic justice, safety, equity and freedom of expression. To make this happen, active participation of all law and order forces like Police Department, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Coast Guard, Ansar-VDP and the three military forces are very much required.
