Workers Party of Bangladesh President Rashed Khan Menon has been arrested. The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) nabbed Rashed Khan Menon from the capital's Gulshan on Thursday (22 August 2024), Additional Deputy Commissioner of DMP's Media Division Obaidur Rahman confirmed to journalists.

Rashed Khan Menon was later shown arrested in a murder case filed with the New Market Police Station.

He has been accused under Sections 143/147/323/307/302/109/114/34 of the penal code and sections 3/6 of the Explosive Substance Act 1908  Rashed Khan Menon is an accused in a case filed with the International Crimes Tribunal over the killing of a college student Alvi in Mirpur of the capital during the recent Anti-Discriminatory Movement. Rashed Khan Menon is also accused in a case filed with the Tribunal over others of committing crimes against humanity and genocide during the 2013 Hefazat-E-Islam rally at Motijheel's Shapla Chattar.
