Murder case filed against Cabinet Secretary, 6 ex top bureaucrats
 
Murder cases have been filed against former seven (7) Secretaries who acted under ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's directives. According to Officer-in-Charge of the capital's Jatrabari Police Station Faruq Ahmed, all the above senior bureaucrats have been accused of murdering demonstrators during the Anti-Discriminatory Students' Movement from July to August 2024. These seven senior bureaucrats include two Cabinet Secretaries and two former Principal Secretaries while Sheikh Hasina was in power.

Current Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain, former Cabinet Secretary Anwarul Islam, former Principal Secretaries Tofazzal Hossain Miah and Ahmed Kaikaus, former Senior Secretaries to Public Administration Ministry Mezbah Uddin Chowdhury and Foyez Ahmed and former Election Commissioner Anisur Rahman have been accused in this case.

Sheikh Hasina, former Food Minister Quamrul Islam, former Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haque, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun and former Additional DIG Proloy Kumar Joardar have been sued over the same case.

Police force has informed that a youngster named Mehedi Hasan (18) was gunned down in the capital's Jatrabari during the mass upsurge. Mehedi Hasan's paternal uncle Md. Nadim filed this case. However, Md. Nadim could not be reached over his mobile phone for his comments on this litigation.
