South Asian University, New Delhi Expands Academic Offerings and Opens Admissions for 2025-26

South Asian University (SAU), established with thevision of has announced the commencement of admissions for the 2025-26 academicsession.

 

The announcement was made by Prof. K K Aggarwal,President of SAU, a distinguished pioneer in computer and electronicsengineering in India, who reaffirmed the university’s commitment to deliveringworld-class education and expanding academic opportunities across the SouthAsian region. SAU, established by the eight member nations of SAARC, has longbeen known for its postgraduate and research programs. After moving to itssprawling 100-acre modern campus, surrounded by lush green cover and in closeproximity to the IT hub of Gurugram, the university is undergoing a significantphase of expansion. Until 2022, SAU operated from a temporary premise at AkbarBhawan, which limited its growth. However, with the move to its new campus, theuniversity has embarked on an ambitious journey of academic and infrastructuraldevelopment. In 2024-25 academic year, it took a major step forward byintroducing B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering. Building on thismomentum, SAU has now launched several new programs for the 2025-26 academicsession, further broadening its academic landscape and reinforcing its positionas a premier institution in higher education. This year, the university hasopened around 1,370 seats for on-campus programs across various disciplines.

 

A key highlight of this expansion is theintroduction of specialized B.Tech. programs designed to meet industry demands.The B.Tech. in Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) now offers in demandspecializations in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, BusinessSystems & Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Data Science & AI.Additionally, SAU has launched a B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing, a programdesigned to equip students with advanced computational and analytical skillsnecessary for emerging technological fields.

 

For students seeking interdisciplinary education,the university has introduced IntegratedPrograms, which provide a seamlesstransition from undergraduate to postgraduate studies. These include theIntegrated BS-MS in Interdisciplinary Sciences and the Integrated BBA-MBAprogram, both of which are designed to offer students a broad and holisticacademic experience.

 

In alignment with global higher education trends,SAU has also introduced one-year Master’s programs for students who havecompleted a four-year undergraduate degree. These programs offer an acceleratedyet rigorous path to postgraduate education, allowing students to enter theworkforce with advanced qualifications in a shorter timeframe. Additionally,SAU has expanded its postgraduate offerings with the introduction of an MBA, anExecutive MBA for working professionals, an MCA and MS Climate Change andSustainability. The university continues to offer M.Tech, MSc (ComputerScience), MSc Biotechnology, MA Sociology, MA International Relations, MAEconomics, and LLM, ensuring a diverse range of academic opportunities forstudents across multiple disciplines.

 

With a strong focus on research and academicexcellence, SAU is also strengthening its PhD programs. This year, it hasintroduced an Executive PhD program, designed specifically for workingprofessionals who wish to pursue advanced research while continuing theircareers. Admissions to various programs will be conducted through SAU’s ownentrance test, as well as through recognized national-level eligibility testsacross SAARC nations. For example, in India the scores of CUET, JEE mains, CATetc shall be considered. To enhance accessibility, students from other SAARCcountries will have the option to take the test through a secure, proctoredonline examination, allowing them to participate from their home countries. ForIndian students, the university will set up multiple test centers across thecountry to ensure ease of access. Additionally, admissions for candidates fromother SAARC nations shall also be granted based on merit in their qualifyingexaminations.

 

 A majormilestone in SAU’s commitment to digital education is the launch of its VirtualCampus, which offers online degree and certificate programs. These programsmaintain the same academic rigor, curriculum standards, and faculty expertiseas their on-campus counterparts, ensuring that quality education reaches awider audience. The programs offered at SAU virtual Campus include- BBA(Hon),BCA(Hons), Integrated BBA-MBA. BCA (Hons), BS and MS (Data Science and AI),MCA, MBA along with certificate courses pertaining to vocal music, Fashiondesign and Communication design etc.
