Grid failure plunges 21 districts into darkness

Around 21 districts in the southern region of the country, including the entire Barishal Division and parts of Khulna Division, were plunged into darkness on Saturday evening following a major power grid failure.

According to officials at Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB), the grid collapse began at 5:45 pm in one district and then gradually spread across the 21 districts.

However, the power transmission was restored within 45 minutes to one hour in all the affected areas, they said, UNB reports.

So far, no committee has been formed to investigate the incident, an official said.
