Bottle thrower who assailed Mahfuz Alam identified

The occurrence of a plastic bottle thrown at Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam has gone viral on social media. Netizens have meanwhile identified the attacker. The assailant's name is Ishtiaque Hossain who studies in first year, Department of Economics in Jagannath University reportedly.

However, the students of Jagannath University, Dhaka who have been demonstrating with different demands have declined to bear the responsibility for the incident of attack on Mahfuz Alam. The agitating students gathered in front of the capital's Kakrail Mosque on Wednesday night and they were preparing to move towards the Chief Adviser's residence at State Guest House Jamuna. At that time Mahfuz Alam reached the spot and tried to mitigate the fury of the protesters. While Mahfuz Alam was speaking to the students, someone from the crowd of demonstrators threw a plastic bottle at Mahfuz Alam.

Mahfuz Alam left the place right after facing the attack. After a while Mahfuz Alam complained to mass media "A vested quarter purposefully has attacked me". Thousands of people have expressed their mixed reactions on Facebook over the bottle assault on Mahfuz Alam. Some student coordinators, who were on the frontline of the July Revolution, said that physical assaults on an Adviser in the middle of a methodical agitation cannot be accepted.
