NCP leaders deplore bottle attack on Mahfuz Alam

Leaders of National Citizens Party (NCP) have strongly condemned the act of throwing a bottle on the interim government's Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam which happened on Wednesday night.

Mahfuz Alam was speaking at Kakrail in Dhaka city at night on 14 May 2025 to calm down the agitating students of Jagannath University when an assailant pelted a plastic bottle at Mahfuz Alam. NCP leaders have expressed their disappointment and anger over the occurrence on social media.

NCP Member Secretary Akhter Hossain wrote on Facebook that the attack on Adviser Mahfuz Alam cannot be justified with any excuse. Akhter Hossain urged the law and order forces to immediately detain the assailant.

NCP Coordinator Sarjis Alam wrote on Facebook that Mahfuz Alam is not Education Adviser. He is not associated with the demands coming from Jagannath University's students, Sarjis Alam stated. He slammed the students who organized this attack on Mahfuz Alam.

Sarjis Alam also blamed the interim government's some Advisers for being afraid of dealing with people straight away who have certain demands.

Another NCP Coordinator Hasnat Abdullah wrote on Facebook that the attack on Information and Broadcasting Adviser Mahfuz Alam is in no way acceptable. Hasnat Abdullah commented that the agitators from Jagannath University should apologize to Mahfuz Alam and to keep away from further undesirable incidents. Hasnat Abdullah urged the Advisory Council to thoroughly look into the demands of the furious students of Jagannath University and to settle down the issues quickly.
