Amir Khasru leaves for London to join Tarique-Yunus meeting

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has flown to London to attend the high-profile meeting between Chief Adviser Dr. Muhammad Yunus and BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman, scheduled to be held on Friday (13 June 2025).

"He departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka last night," Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Convener Ershad Ullah said during a meeting with journalists in the port city on Wednesday.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury was supposed to attend the meeting earlier this morning to discuss the current political situation, but was absent due to his travel plans.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir expressed hope that this meeting could be a turning point in resolving the country's ongoing political crisis.

"The Chief Adviser has invited our acting chairperson to a meeting. The meeting will be held at the hotel where Dr. Muhammad Yunus is staying," Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said.

The meeting is set to take place between 9am and 11am London time on Friday, the BNP Secretary General added.

Dr. Muhammad Yunus has announced that the 13th parliamentary elections will be held on any day in the first half of April 2026. However, BNP is against the plan and has been demanding for long that the election be held by December 2025.
