Spirited Bangladesh U-17 National Football Team will take on Pakistan in the first semifinal match of the SAFF U-17 Championship scheduled to be held at Racecourse ground in Colombo, Sri Lanka on Thursday.
The match kicks off at 3.30 pm Bangladesh time. India meets Nepal in the day's second semifinal match that begins at 8 pm (BST).
Bangladesh, so far, played a good brand of football in the tournament. They beat Nepal and Sri Lanka by an identical margin of 4-0 goals to emerge group A champions. On the other hand, Pakistan beat Bhutan 4-0 in their group opening match, defeated Maldives 5-2 in their second match but lost to defending champions India by 3-2 goals in their last match of the group to finish group B runners-up.
Bangladesh U-17 national football team goalkeeper Alif Rahman Imtiaz firmly said they would take to the field to win the semifinal.
"We have won the last two matches of the group and we'll take to the field to win the semifinal match no matter who will be our semifinal rival," said Imtiaz through a video message.
He said the players are upbeat to give their and looking forward to qualify for the final match.
"Team manager Sharif Azizul Hasan Mohan said the boys are prepared for the semifinal and taking preparation as accordingly. The final of the championship is slated for September 27 at the same venue.
