Former minister Nurul Majid dies in jail custody
 
Former industries minister Nurul Majid Mahmud Humayun (75) who was in jail custody, passed away on Monday. He died at about 8:10am while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, the Department of Prisons said in a statement. Nurul Majid was admitted to the hospital for advanced treatment after suffering from uncontrolled bowel and bladder disease, it said. He was taken to the hospital's Intensive Care Unit on Sunday as his condition deteriorated. He died there on Monday morning.

The former minister was arrested at Dhaka's Gulshan on September 24 in 2024 after the fall of the Awami League government.
Born in 1950, Nurul served as industries minister from 2019 to 2024.
