Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Salahuddin Ahmed has said that three superpowers are trying to get hold of Bangladesh. Salahuddin Ahmed further said that speaking against India during the immediate past regime was deadly. He recalled the murder of BUET student Abrar Fahad who was killed for similar reasons.
Salahuddin Ahmed made the above comments on Tuesday (7 October 2025) at Teachers and Students Center (TSC) in Dhaka University in a commemorative program organized to observe the 6th death anniversary of Abrar Fahad.
According to Salahuddin Ahmed "Three big powers are working against the interest of Bangladesh. Two are regional powers while another country is a global big boss".
Salahuddin Ahmed blamed ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for allowing external powers to impose intervention in Bangladesh's internal matters. He laid emphasis on overcoming the shadows of geopolitical hegemony and imperialism. Salahuddin Ahmed stressed that it's vital to do politics with merit, honesty, patriotism and competent leadership.
It may be added that banned outfit Chhatra League physically assaulted Abrar Fahad at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) on 6 October 2019. Abrar Fahad died a few hours later.
