ssThe July National Charter 2025 is going to be signed on October 15 at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad in Dhaka. Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus, chief adviser to the interim government and chairman of the National Consensus Committee (NCC), will lead the signing ceremony with participation of representatives from political parties and alliances.
The decision was finalized on Thursday at a meeting of the commission held at its Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban office. The meeting reviewed expert opinions on the implementation of the July Charter, as well as feedback gathered from five meetings the Commission held with various political parties.
The commission expressed hope that based on the opinions gathered from experts and political leaders, recommendations on implementation mechanisms and the final version of the July Charter will soon be submitted to the government.
Commission Vice-Chairman Professor Ali Riaz, members Dr. Badiul Alam Majumdar, Justice Md. Emdadul Haque, Dr. Iftekharuzzaman, and Dr. Md. Aiyub Mia attended the meeting. Chief Adviser's Special Assistant Monir Haider was also present.
According to Commission sources, the final version of the Charter reflects a wide range of political and civic inputs, seeking to lay out a shared roadmap for electoral reforms, decentralisation, and good governance.
Officials indicated that preparations are underway to ensure the October 15 ceremony reflects the spirit of national unity the Charter aspires to achieve - bringing together diverse political actors under a single framework for inclusive governance and democratic renewal.
