Dhaka hails dialogue

Bangladesh has welcomed the ongoing dialogue between Hamas and Israel aimed at ending the war in Gaza, expressing hope that the diplomatic efforts will lead to lasting peace and the establishment of an independent, sovereign State of Palestine.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Dhaka views diplomacy and dialogue as "the only means to resolve any conflict" and commended all parties facilitating the peace process to address the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The government expressed optimism that the talks would result in an immediate ceasefire, the unimpeded delivery of humanitarian aid, and an end to the suffering of Gaza's civilian population.

"Bangladesh hopes that, by ending the ongoing war in Gaza, this diplomatic process would pave the way for the realisation of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine," the statement read.

Reiterating its unwavering solidarity with the Palestinian people, Bangladesh reaffirmed its steadfast support for a two-state solution based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine.

The ministry also conveyed Bangladesh's readiness to contribute to peacekeeping and post-conflict reconstruction efforts in Gaza, underscoring its continued commitment to promoting peace, stability, and justice in the Middle East.
