Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury has said that it's important to keep away from vindictive politics right now and to establish a political culture of reciprocal honour and tolerance. Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury also laid emphasis on restoring democracy and uniting people from all walks of life.
Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury made the above comments while addressing the fourth founding anniversary of Gono Odhikar Parishad in the capital's Diploma Engineers' Institute on Sunday as a special guest.
Amir Khosru Mahmud stated that it has been 14 months since former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was ousted but a democratic governing system is still missing in Bangladesh. He commented that now it is essential to establish people's rights and to fortify peace and stability everywhere.
According to Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, it's now important to reach out to the country's masses irrespective of political ideologies. He underscored the fact that the upcoming elections must be held in a consolidated and united way and all unresolved issues must be settled down with the participation of the country's all citizens.
Amir Khosru Mahmud added that elections are indispensable for resolving all questions and debates. If elections are deferred, violence and undesirable circumstances may erupt once again, Amir Khosru Mahmud warned.
