Foreign Adviser has no idea about Zakir Naik's Dhaka trip

 
An event management company has informed journalists that Islamic preacher and theologian Dr. Zakir Naik is scheduled to visit Bangladesh on 28 November 2025. However, Bangladesh interim government's Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain has said that he has no idea about Dr. Zakir Naik's visit to Dhaka on the above stated date.

Touhid Hossain made the above comment while answering questions from journalists at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday (28 October 2025). Touhid Hossain further said that he heard about Dr. Zakir Naik's probable visit to Bangladesh for the first time from reporters, not from any official channels.

It may be recalled that the Bangladesh government stopped the transmission of Peace TV and banned the speeches of Dr. Zakir Naik following the militant attack on Holey Artisan Café in July 2016. It was later on traced out through inquiries that the radical outfit which carried out the Holey Artisan attack was motivated by Dr. Zakir Naik's sermons. Around 20 people including foreigners and police officers were killed in that attack.
