Bangladesh Police is set to roll out its long-awaited new uniforms on 15 November, marking the beginning of a fresh, iron-coloured look for officers across metropolitan and specialised units.
Assistant Inspector General (Media) AHM Sahadat Hossain confirmed that personnel from metropolitan forces such as the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP), along with
specialised units including the Highway Police, River Police, and Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI), will be the first to adopt the redesigned attire.
"The new uniforms-iron-coloured and distinctly styled-will be available by 15 November. Initially, all metropolitan and specialised units will begin wearing them, while range and district police will follow gradually," Hossain said.
The decision to update the uniform colours of the Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP), and Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) was approved on 20 January 2025, as part of a broader reform initiative following the July Mass Uprising.
The change aims to give the force a refreshed identity, symbolising modernisation and accountability.
