Bombs blast before Grameen Bank on AL protests day

Banned outfit Awami League (AL) called for demonstrations across Bangladesh on Monday (10 November 2025). Bombs were exploded in several places yesterday including Dhaka city. The first bomb was detonated in front of Grameen Bank corporate office in the capital's Mirpur 2.

Police personnel have informed that bomb blasts took place on different spots in Dhaka city from early morning to midday on Monday though nobody was injured in these explosions. Passenger buses were torched on two separate spots in Dhaka city yesterday.

Mirpur Model Thana Officer-in-Charge Sajjad Roman told journalists that two individuals threw hand bombs to Grameen Bank premises at 4 am in the morning and ran away.

OC Sajjad Roman said "We have picked photographs of two persons from video clips who pelted bombs to Grameen Bank office. We hope to soon get hold of the attackers."

It may be added that Awami League ruled Bangladesh from 2009 to 2024. A countrywide mass uprising led by students ousted Awami League on 5 August 2024 and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina moved away to India on the same day. An interim government was constituted on 8 August 2024 led by Nobel Prize winner Dr. Muhammad Yunus who is Grameen Bank's founder.
