Jatiya Party wants to tie up with BNP or Jamaat

Jatiya Party is still suffering from uncertainty about how they can participate in the upcoming elections. Political sources have informed that Jatiya Party is eager to ally with Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) or Jamaat-E-Islami ahead of elections.

Jatiya Party Secretary General Shameem Haider Patwary told BBC Bangla "Jatiya Party is interested to join elections in alliance with likeminded political parties. It will be beneficial for both sides in terms of elections."

Jatiya Party leaders have expressed hope that the smokescreen about their approach to elections will dissolve as soon as electoral schedule is announced.

Election Commission (EC) is scheduled to hold dialogues with different political parties from Thursday. It's not yet confirmed whether Jatiya Party will be invited for this dialogue with EC.

Jatiya Party is registered with the Election Commission but the party is jolted by internal disputes.
Election Commissioner Anwarul Islam told BBC Bangla "Jatiya Party has some rifts within their own leaders. Election Commission can make decisions on Jatiya Party if they can settle down their unresolved issues."

Election schedule is supposed to be declared in December 2025. Jatiya Party has been broadly cornered in Bangladesh's political arena since August 2024 because of their affiliations with ousted political party Awami League.
