MOFA urges India not to telecast Sheikh Hasina's statements

Bangladesh interim government's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) has voiced worries about the transmission of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's statements by means of Indian mass media. MOFA officials have said that such provocative comments from an overthrown human rights violator are not conducive for the prevalence of healthy bilateral ties between Dhaka and New Delhi.

MOFA summoned Indian Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka Shri Pawan Badhe on Wednesday (12 November 2025) to convey the above message.  A MOFA higher official summoned Shri Pawan Badhe and told him about Bangladesh's concern over the above issue. MOFA told Shri Pawan Badhe that Sheikh Hasina's comments or interviews transmitted through media outlets in India cannot be appreciated at all. Shri Pawan Badhe was requested by MOFA to stop further transmission of Sheikh Hasina's statements through Indian media houses.  

Diplomatic sources have informed that Bangladesh's absconding ex Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's presence in Indian mass media can cause harm to the friendly ties between Bangladesh and India, according to MOFA high-ups.

MOFA officials have said that the immediate past Bangladeshi Prime Minister is accused of human rights violations and crimes against humanity. Such an individual's disdainful remarks on Bangladesh cannot be helpful for sustaining good relations between the two countries, MOFA asserted.

Bangladesh has also called upon India to stop broadcasting Sheikh Hasina's statements without delay. Bangladesh also requested Shri Pawan Badhe yesterday to convey Dhaka's concern to New Delhi immediately for necessary measures.
