Cherishing Safety, Peace and Justice Around the World

Cherishing Safety, Peace and Justice Around the World

It is for the past two years or more we find that the issue of peace and justice has raised million-dollar questions in the mind of rational minded citizens of the globe. In this regard, my respected online readers should absolve my temperament in writing this kind of column. Still, I dearly feel this kind of writing seems utterly relevant as per current situation deemed to be so.

Peace and justice are now deeply implied in our social, political, economic and cultural life around the globe. It is right from the beginning of twentieth century we have witnessed war and catastrophe hovered around the hearts and ribs of us due to the impact of two major wars. After that period such prolonged years have passed on, till we witness the scourge of wars which badly shackles our movements from one part of the world to other parts of the globe.

That is the reason we cherish global peace and justice within us. My readers might wonder why this writer is craving for justice. My thoughts might be logical in this regard. Because peace and justice always coincide with each other. Among the two, justice stands prominent. Because without proper justice, how can we ensure peace among us.

It is for the cognizance of my online readers of the South Asian Subcontinent, that why peace and justice coincide with each other. As my focusing area pertaining to my column, purely upon the South Asian Sub-Continent, hence decides to focus upon India and Bangladesh.

Whenever we talk about justice, in today’s scenario, that is based upon ethical principles, rational thought along with legal framework. To be more elaborate, it is found that it is a multifaceted and dynamic concept which is focused upon fairness, equity along with impartial protection of human rights and opportunities for individuals. Justice progresses much above broader social, economic and political dimensions. All the above falls under the influence of John Rawl’s ‘justice as fairness’ and Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen’s ‘capability approach’ and ‘principles of restorative justice’.

Now let me touch upon the basic components of justice, which might be of deep academic interest to my respected readers. Among all the components of justice, some of the key ones are stated as follow:

Fairness and impartiality
Equality and equity
Human rights
Social and economic justice
Procedural justice
Restorative and corrective justice
Access and participation

Apart from my above discourse on justice, we find that viewing from inner eyes that justice has ruthlessly misinterpreted. Though it is an example of common anathema around the globe, but in and around the South Asian Subcontinent, we find that justice is ruinously misinterpreted. In the same manner, we find how badly common citizens are badly deprived in receipt of proper justice from the interim government of Bangladesh. The current interim regime of Bangladesh is thrashing the innocent citizens of the nation under utter tenterhooks which is truly incomprehensible and sorrowful in our mind and heart. It might true that Bangladesh Awami League might have performed heinous crime, but within the span of fifteen months’ time the way Yunus regime has been involved in the task of raped apart the life and soul of innocent citizens, then we may easily interpret how justice is prevailing at present around the nation. I being an Indian national by birth, feel utter compassion about the prevailing situation. Each and every day in my life, I find that innocent people are murdered by this tyrannical interim regime under Nobel Laureate Dr Mohammad Yunus regime. Is there any proper answer to this menacing mayhem? Till date nobody could render any proper answer to this oppressive ruling. It is our sincerest hopes and desires for proper justice to be rendered to the real victims.

While arriving at the peace process, it can be interpreted that it is deeply linked with proper rendering of justice to innocent people of India, Bangladesh and other nations of the Sub-Continent. If justice is meted out to the citizens of the South Asian Subcontinent, then peace is bound to come up in our life. Whenever peace is generated in human life, then we should brew with confidence that proper justice has been given to us by our judiciary.

From Bangladesh perspective, it should be our dear hearted concern, why there is no proper justice given to innocent citizens of the nation. Rather multimillionaires of the nation get the proper justice. Whereas why the innocent citizens are worst affected. This has left a deep scar on our mind. Rather our worries are leading to its extreme level, which is also not at all desirable.

Similarly in various Indian cities, we are not finding proper justice given to the middle class and poorer cum downtrodden   sections of society. Apart from the Indian state of West Bengal, Tripura plus some other states of the Indian Union where crime rates are mounting up so badly which badly retards receipt of justice to the affected citizens of both India and Bangladesh. In India while in receipt of judgements connected with civil and criminal cases, justice given is not at all up to the mark. In many states of India, we have noticed closely that due to lack of proper justice peace doesn’t crop up in the life of innocent citizens. This is a terribly worrisome phenomenon. Before I further delve my thoughts into intricate details, let me analyze how peace and justice coincide each other.

Now arriving at my analysis in justice, we find from close quarters. If I delve deeply into my thoughts, then I find that justice always ensures political, social and economic equality. If the citizens are accorded fair justice, then peace is bound to surface upon the human mind. Justice always holds aloft to provide fundamental rights to our citizens, thereby emphasizing upon proper social order, thereby motivating the citizens of the South Asian Subcontinent to have a stable and trustworthy society. That indicates proper health support, sound opportunities for better living, amenities of life along with non-discriminatory supports like basic amenities of life, like economic opportunities, educational opportunities and finally eradication of legal and constitutional discrimination, humanity ever faces in life.

The pillars on which justice is meted out are stated as follow:

Social justice
Economic Justice
Political justice

Analyzing the concept of justice is not an easy task for me. Hereby candidly declare my admittance. In most of the cases, I find that humanity across us doesn't get proper justice. Especially the middle classes along with poor and downtrodden sections of society are badly deprived in receipt of proper justice from our governance and judiciary. My online readers might be irritated at me, but as justice follows peace, hence how can I neglect my ethical views about analyzing justice from close quarters. In order to delve more into my subject, I need to throw light on more ideas about justice. An interesting point to be noted is that Nobel Laureate Amartya Sen has performed remarkably for justice. In his interpretation about justice, the Nobel Laureate connotes, ‘justice is such which indicates eradication of special injustices and social anomalies instead of enumerating a developed society, which is relevant in the modern age.’

Judging by the supposition of Professor Amartya Sen, it is found that proper justice is not traceable in the modern age. In nations under the South Asian Subcontinent, like Sri Lanka and Nepal which could overcome political turmoil in such a balanced and meticulous manner, why not Bangladesh and Pakistan could recover from this dastardly situation. Because of this dastardly situation, I feel that Bangladesh should retrieve herself from this heinous turmoil. In Bangladesh, there should be proper justice, otherwise governance will not be carried on at all. When justice along with proper governance and peace is not traceable, then we may not cherish development and progress in any nation under the South Asian Subcontinent. It is in both India and Bangladesh we find that the judiciary is not functioning at all. In this regard, the glaring example is how the chief justice of the Supreme Court of India, Mr Justice B.R. Gavai faced a heinous wrath by a lawyer of the top judiciary of India in the midst of a hearing.

If proper justice is not meted out to the citizens of India, Bangladesh and Pakistan, then how can we expect peace to come up in our life. Not only peace is relevant within our families, rather it is also relevant between the above three nations.  Peace despite being a debatable issue in modern life, but still, I feel it is badly relevant. That we cannot deny till the last breath of our life in this eternity. Different types of peace like political, social, familial peace, economic peace along with global peace are always relevant among us.

Summation of the above dispositions, justice and peace should march together in every space of our life. As the geopolitical scene around the globe is turning hostile, it is indeed of utmost necessity to ensure peace around the globe with the impact of justice. Otherwise, we might not imagine that our life might turn haywire. It is the honored responsibility of South Asian statesmen along with global ones to ensure sound justice along with peace in our mind and heart.
