Each building has its own walls, which is why Dhaka is often called the city of walls. In this city, there is a beautiful sculpture of the Doyel (Magpie) at a road junction. This sculpture has given the area its name—Doyel Chattar. That, however, is another story. Behind the walls of every house, there is a sense of comfort. The walls of our homes hold the marks of our happiness—and sometimes, the traces of our sorrows as well. With such tender thoughts and emotions, Taeb Millat Hossain’s poems are written. His first book, Deyaler Dhakai Doyel, features poems inspired by such thoughts.
Taeb Millat Hossain has been writing poetry since his school days. However, he has been pursuing it seriously for at least two and a half decades. He has countless unpublished poems. Among them, 37 have been published in his book, "Deyaler Dhakai Doyel." The poems in this collection explore themes of love, homeland, history, and politics.
The introduction to this book was written by Firoz Ehtesham, a renowned poet of Bangladesh. He says, “Taeb Millat Hossain’s poems bring fresh ideas and unique beauty to many themes. He gives new meaning to familiar words.”
Taeb Millat Hossain’s poems deal with different aspects of human life and connect them to society, the country, and the world. The poet said about his book, “Most of these poems belong to my personal collection. A few appeared in newspapers and magazines, and some were once shared on social media. I gathered them all in this book so that readers could experience them together. The book of poetry will be meaningful only if readers accept it.”
Deyaler Dhakai Doyel, a poetry collection by Taeb Millat Hossain, has been published by Swapno 71 Publications. The cover, designed by Tanzil Remon, adds a touch of artistic elegance to the book. It is available at the publisher’s stall in the Concord Emporium Shopping Complex in Katabon, Dhaka, as well as through Rokomari and other online platforms. Written in Bangla, this poetry collection is available for only 200 taka.
