Hundreds of furious students led by Dhaka University Central Students' Union (DUCSU) Vice President and Islami Chhatra Shibir leader Sadiq Kayem spearheaded a heated demonstration yesterday over the murder attempt on Inqilab Mancha leader Sharif Osman Bin Hadi. The demonstration with loudly chanted slogans was interrupted by police personnel at Doyel Chattar in Dhaka city on Monday at around 1:20 pm. However, the demonstrators broke through police barricades and moved towards the Secretariat. They were once again obstructed by police force in front of the High Court but the agitating students could not be stopped.
Later on the demonstrators took position in front of the Secretariat at around 1:45 pm and continued yelling out angry watchwords against the Home Ministry.
Osman Hadi was shot into his head by miscreants on this Friday who is nominated to contest in upcoming elections from Dhaka-8 constituency. An air ambulance has meanwhile taken Osman Hadi to Singapore for advanced medical treatment since his physical condition could not be improved in Dhaka. The air ambulance flew to Singapore at 1:55 pm yesterday.
On the other hand, Jatiya Chhatra Shakti blockaded the capital's Shahbagh intersection yesterday with demands for Home Adviser Lt. General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury's immediate resignation over his failure to arrest the main terrorists who attempted to
kill Osman Hadi. Leaders of Jatiya Chhatra Shakti also slammed the Home Adviser for being unable to keep up sound law and order situation all over Bangladesh.
The demonstrators warned that they will go for much harder programs if Osman Hadi's murder attempt culprits are not nabbed without delay. The student organizations also said that nosedive in law and order plight is happening as part of domestic and international conspiracies to subvert the essence of the July Revolution.
