The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) of the United Kingdom government has issued advice and warnings for British citizens about visiting some parts of Bangladesh. This statement with map and specifications were seen on the UK government's website on Saturday (20 December 2025).
FCDO has unveiled the above travel warnings in the wake of the death of July Revolution leader Sharif Osman Bin Hadi's death who died a couple of days ago and whose funeral rites were conducted on Saturday. FCDO has warned everyone concerned about travelling to the Chittagong Hill Tracts too which include Rangamati, Khagrachhari and Bandarban districts.
The cautionary travel message from the UK government shows these words "Bangladesh will observe a National Day of Mourning on Saturday 20 December. Pay close attention to local information and follow guidance. FCDO's ability to provide assistance is severely limited in areas where we advise against travel."
The travel advice includes these words too "If you choose to travel, research your destinations and get appropriate travel insurance. Insurance should cover your itinerary, planned activities and expenses in an emergency." It may be added that violence broke out across Bangladesh on Thursday night (18 December 2025) when the breaking news on July firebrand Osman Hadi's death was transmitted by television channels and online media portals.
Angry demonstrators launched deadly attacks on the offices of leading newspapers The Daily Star and Prothom Alo on Thursday night in Dhaka city and carried out arson assaults on both these newspaper buildings. Cultural organizations like Chhayanaut and Udichi were attacked and vandalized too. Osman Hadi was buried yesterday following a Namaz-E-Janaza which was attended by more than thousands of people.
