Global leaders greet Tarique Rahman


Leaders across the globe have greeted BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman following the party's landslide victory in the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken with BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman following his sweeping victory in Bangladesh's election.

During the call on Friday afternoon, Modi congratulated Tarique and assured him of India's support in fulfilling the aspirations of the Bangladeshi people.

On X, Modi wrote: "Delighted to speak with Tarique Rahman. I congratulated him on the remarkable victory in the Bangladesh elections. I conveyed my best wishes and support in his endeavour to fulfil the aspirations of the people of Bangladesh."

He added: "As two close neighbours with deep-rooted historical and cultural ties, I reaffirmed India's continued commitment to the peace, progress, and prosperity of both our peoples."

Earlier in the day, Modi had posted another message congratulating Tarique on his decisive win, saying: "This victory shows the trust of the people of Bangladesh in your leadership. India will continue to stand in support of a democratic, progressive and inclusive Bangladesh."

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim sent a warm message on Friday, describing the BNP's "unprecedented electoral victory" as a "victory for democracy". He remarked that the people of Bangladesh had clearly delivered their verdict through the ballot box despite facing numerous challenges.

Pakistan's President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif both congratulated Rahman.

President Zardari reaffirmed Pakistan's support for democratic partnership and mutual progress, while Prime Minister Sharif lauded the BNP's significant victory and the successful holding of the general election.

Nepal's Prime Minister Sushila Karki has congratulated Bangladesh on the successful completion of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and extended special greetings to Tarique Rahman for leading BNP to victory.

In a message shared on social media, the Nepali premier conveyed warm wishes to the government and people of Bangladesh, describing the election as a reflection of the country's strong democratic process.

Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay congratulated Tarique Rahman on his party's massive election victory.
"I look forward to working closely to further strengthen the warm ties of friendship between Bhutan and Bangladesh," he said in a message on Friday.

"Warmest congratulations to Tarique Rahman and the BNP on winning the Bangladesh general elections," said the Bhutanese Prime Minister.
Furthermore, Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Tarique Rahman on the "extraordinary victory" and expressed his hope for further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
