A lawyer of the Supreme Court has served a legal notice to the government, seeking a travel ban on Dr. Muhammad Yunus and all advisers of the interim government over their alleged involvement in what he termed an "unlawful and malicious" initiative to transfer the measles vaccination system from state control to the private sector.
The notice was sent yesterday (6 April 2026) by Supreme Court lawyer Barrister M Ashraful Islam.
In a press release regarding the legal notice, the lawyer said, "A severe outbreak of measles, a previously eliminated disease, has suddenly emerged across the country. Already, more than a hundred children have died, and countless children and ordinary citizens have been hospitalized after being infected with measles. A demand has been raised to form an investigation committee into the alleged involvement in the unlawful initiative of transferring the vaccination system for a disease like measles from the state to the private sector."
The statement further said, "A legal notice has been served requesting the government to impose a travel ban on all advisers, including Dr. Muhammad Yunus, Dr. Asif Nazrul, Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Adilur Rahman Khan, Nurjahan Begum, Brigadier General (Retd) M Sakhawat Hossain, Lt. General (Retd) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury and Mostofa Sarwar Farooki, as well as former press secretary to the chief adviser Shafiqul Alam and all relevant former personal assistants, until the completion of the investigation."
According to the press release, "The notice has been served to the Cabinet Secretary, health secretary, home secretary and other secretaries of the relevant ministries. It calls for the formation of an investigation committee and the imposition of a travel ban on all members of the advisory council, including Dr. Muhammad Yunus, within five days of receiving the notice. Upon failure to comply, Barrister M Ashraful Islam has implied that he will pursue necessary legal steps to have travel bans imposed on Dr. Muhammad Yunus and his cabinet colleagues in the immediate past interim government.
