ACC requested to probe graft allegations over Dr. Asif Nazrul

Corruption allegations amounting to billions of taka have been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) over Dr. Asif Nazrul for inquiries. Barrister M Sarwar Hossain filed these allegations with ACC on Wednesday (8 April 2026). Allegations show that Dr. Asif Nazrul acquired countless sums of money as bribes for the appointment and transfer of 286 Sub Registrars during the reign of the interim government.

Allegedly Dr. Asif Nazrul, who was the interim government's Law Minister, did not comply with any statutory regulations about transferring Sub Registrars. Rather everything was done in exchange of bribes. According to allegations, BDT 50 to 60 lakh was taken from each Sub Registrar for transferring them to lucrative locations.

Another reliable source has complained that Dr. Asif Nazrul took huge amounts of bribes from Judges for their transfer to preferred districts. In this way the Law and Justice Ministry during the ruling period of the immediate past interim government was polluted with graft, nepotism, bribery and power abuse with Dr. Asif Nazrul in the Adviser post.

Reportedly Dr. Asif Nazrul totally crippled the exercise of compliance and integrity in the judicial system of Bangladesh. Further allegations show that he terminated several Judges from service under unscrupulous political maltreatment. Moreover, it has been reported that Dr. Asif Nazrul sent many more Judges to mandatory retirement just because these judiciary officials did not pay him bribes.
