Political parties around us should build up confidence on each other

Late Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson and three times Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia declined all threats and blood eyes of the 1/11 ruling authorities and she denied to leave the country. Becoming furious over Begum Khaleda Zia’s strong determination, the tyrants of the 1/11 period ruthlessly tortured her elder son Tarique Rahman who is now Bangladesh Prime Minister. The 1/11 catastrophe unleashed a reign of misgovernance, extortion, power abuse and crackdown on business enterprises and polluted the space for integrity at all levels through the announcement of a state of emergency which lasted for nearly two years from 2007 to the end of 2008. Certain military officers who were stationed in Dhaka Cantonment and in Army Headquarters and held top posts in the defence intelligence division when the 1/11 intrigue took place were on the frontline of this gambit. Army officers who were posted outside Dhaka actually did not have anything to do with the creation of 1/11. The first and foremost job is to precisely identify the articulators who straight away participated in the heinous plot and the officers who conducted torture on Tarique Rahman in 2007. The real motives behind the making of 1/11 should be explored through penetrative investigations and it should be also traced out whether any external powers participated in this political apocalypse in Bangladesh. The Asian Age wrote comprehensively about the 1/11 conspiracies and the demolition of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s residence in Dhaka Cantonment in the following two reports—“Khaleda Zia’s Eviction from Dhaka Cantonment: How Fascism Exposed All Its Fangs” dated 30 October 2024 and another report titled “All 1/11 Articulators Should Be Detained” dated 26 March 2026. The interim government attempted to subdue The Asian Age editorial board with intimidation after the publication of the report on the destruction of Begum Khaleda Zia’s Dhaka Cantonment house. Begum Khaleda Zia is valiant freedom fighter Sector Commander Ziaur Rahman’s wife. Ziaur Rahman was also Chief of Army Staff after Bangladesh’s independence and he is a former President too. A political party emerged back then called Progressive Development Party Bangladesh which included politicians chosen by the 1/11 founders. Finding out the leaders of Progressive Development Party and interrogating them will be helpful in discovering the real purposes, targets and morally degenerated activities of the 1/11 orchestrators. The then Chief of Army Staff General Moeen U Ahmed (Retd) was the key originator who engineered 1/11 and a puppet caretaker government was sworn in headed by Dr. Fakhruddin Ahmed. Now it’s time for the elected BNP government to work tirelessly to establish rule of law and accountability which are essential for socioeconomic advancement.
