Rumeen Farhana reportedly faces odd gesture in parliament
Jamaat Ameer and Opposition Chief in Parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman has complained that some ruling party Treasury Bench members in parliament made odd gestures while Rumeen Farhana was speaking in Jatiya Sangsad. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman protested this indecent manner in Parliament and he called upon all Members of Parliament (MPs) to sustain a decent atmosphere in the assembly.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman came up with the above allegations on Sunday (19 April 2026) while the parliamentary session was being presided over by Deputy Speaker Kaiser Kamal. Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that it is absolutely unacceptable if senior MPs can't show proper behavioural sense in Parliament. He stated that it was everyone's expectations that all parliamentarians will work and speak in gentle ways following the parliamentary code of conduct. However, Dr. Shafiqur Rahman expressed regrets saying that some ruling party MPs are holding an arrogant attitude towards opposition leaders.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman also called for equal opportunities to speak in Parliament for all MPs. He urged the Speaker and his colleagues to abstain from doing any form of discrepancies inside the Jatiya Sangsad.
Dr. Shafiqur Rahman added that all MPs irrespectively should be working in a cooperative way dealing with each other nicely.
