PM to visit home district Bogura today
Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will visit his home district Bogura today.
During the daylong tour, after a long gap of nearly two decades, he is expected to go to his ancestral home, Zia Bari, at Bagbari in Gabtoli upazila of the district.
This is his first visit to Bogura after assuming office as Prime Minister following a landslide victory in the 13th national parliamentary elections held on February 12.
In Bogura, the Prime Minister will inaugurate various development activities and take part in a public rally, reports BSS.
Centering his visit, roads and different establishments of the city have already been cleaned and decorated. A festive mood is prevailing across the town. A huge stage has been made at the historic Altafunnesa playground in the district town.
Meanwhile, the people of Gabtoli are eagerly waiting to welcome the celebrated son of this soil Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the eldest son of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister late Begum Khaleda Zia.
Extensive preparations have been taken in Bagbari. Zia Bari has been decorated while roads have been renovated.
Talking to BSS, Dainik Karatoa Editor Mozammel Haque Lalu said, "Prime Minister Tarique Rahman belongs to our household, his visit to his ancestral district is a matter of great joy for us".
His visit to Bogura this time is very crucial to fulfill many of the expectations of the district's people.
According to the tour schedule received from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO), the premier will leave his Gulshan residence in Dhaka by road at 6am.
He is expected to arrive at Bogura Circuit House at 10:30am.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to unveil the plaque of the newly constructed building of Bogura District Bar Association and inaugurate the e-Bail Bond activities at 11 am.
He will unveil the plaque of the newly constituted Bogura City Corporation at Bogura municipal building at 11:30 am.
Tarique Rahman will inaugurate the emergency measles-rubella vaccination campaign 2026 at Ziaur Rahman Gram Hospital in Bagbari of Gabtoli upazila here at 12:45 pm.
Then at 1:30 pm, he will join the Family Card distribution programme at Shaheed Zia Degree College ground.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the excavation work of Chaukirdah canal in Bagbari Nashipur area at 1:45 pm while he will visit the ancestral house of his father Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman at 2:30 pm.
He will return to Bogura Circuit House at 3:30 pm and after a short break there, Tarique Rahman will join a public rally to be organized by BNP Bogura District unit at Altafunnesa playground at 4 pm.
Besides, he is scheduled to inaugurate the new building of Bogura Press Club at 5:45 pm and the reconstruction work of Bogura Baitur Rahman Central Mosque at 5:50 pm.
The Prime Minister is expected to leave here for Dhaka by road at 6 pm.
